39.Pankaj Mittal: Internationalisation in India
Show Notes

Projected to become the most populous country in the world, and with more than 200 officially recognised languages, India is home to an extraordinarily large and diverse student population. Its size and variety make providing higher education a significant challenge, but a crucial issue to address in order to achieve further social and economic development.

How can internationalisation support the ambitions of Indian higher education institutions? And what lessons can we learn from both India's successes and the challenges the country faces? In this episode, we are in conversation with Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, to find out more.

About Pankaj Mittal
Dr Pankaj Mittal is Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). She previously served at the University Grants Commission of India (the country’s higher education regulatory body) for more than three decades, and as Vice-Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur, the first rural women’s university in North India. Pankaj is a Fulbright Scholar, and holds a PhD in Agricultural Statistics from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
